Barbershop Talk meets every Sunday morning at 9:00 AM, in the building, before the eleven o'clock service starts. It runs as Men on the Move, and the name is meant literally. Men sit down together and work through scripture the way a conversation actually moves in a barbershop, back and forth, interruptions included.
Where the name comes from
Proverbs 27:17 says it plainly: as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. That is the premise of the hour. Nobody in the room is finished growing, and nobody grows alone. The men who show up on a given Sunday are there to be sharpened and to sharpen somebody else, often in the same conversation.
What the hour asks of you
Show up. Sharpening does not happen from a distance. It happens in the room, in person, on a Sunday morning, week after week.
Speak truth. A brother who actually loves you will tell you something you did not want to hear. That is what the hour is for, not a lecture nobody argues with.
Stay in the word. Iron only sharpens the iron it touches. Scripture only does its work in a life it is actually applied to.

Barbershop Talk runs at 9:00 AM on Sundays, at 3330 Skyview Dr, Lakeland, FL 33801, ahead of the main worship service at eleven. You do not need to be a member to sit in. If you have a question before your first Sunday, call the church office at 863-682-1467.
